Sam Harrell
Trustee
Sam is the founding Executive Director of Africa Exchange, a nonprofit organization operating in the USA and Kenya for 26 years. Born and raised in Kenya, his passion lies in cross-cultural engagement and utilizing capacity building and appropriate technology to empower rural, marginalized communities in Kenya. Over the past 15 years, he has focused on establishing Integrated Child Development Centers in 12 locations, benefiting over 1000 children under 6 and addressing multidimensional poverty.
He holds a BA in Industrial Arts from North Carolina State University and an MDiv from Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond.
Additionally, Sam is dedicated to environmental conservation, particularly in restoring watersheds and degraded environments through tree-planting initiatives with local community groups and schools. Sam and his wife Melody have three grown sons and one grandchild, and they take pride in their family's growth and achievements.
